Bringing Hope and Dignity – Since 1960

AMC – The Association for the Mentally Challenged in Bangalore has been a beacon of hope for hundreds of families with special children navigating the journey of intellectual and cognitive disabilities. AMC is a nurturing space where they are seen, understood, and uplifted. For over six decades, AMC has dedicated itself to nor only the care, education, and empowerment of individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) — creating a nurturing space where they are seen, understood, and uplifted.
At AMC, we believe that every child, regardless of their learning pace or challenges, deserves an opportunity to grow with dignity. From special education tailored to slow learners, to hands-on life-skills training, vocational training and livelihood support, our programs are built to help children and young adults with intellectual and learning disabilities to navigate and thrive in the real world.
AMC’s unique approach is not only to work with the children themselves, but importantly, with their families, providing the care-givers support, and capacity-building not only to help them understand and support their wards, but also to enhance the quality of their lives and livelihoods.
AMC works on the support of dedicated volunteers, and individual and corporate donors, taking no government grants. It has the highest levels of governance, and is accredited by Credibility Alliance and is recognised as Tier 1 NGO by Give India. It is also listed on Guide Star and India Cares. Its professional staff goes beyond the call of duty to provide empathetic care and support to the children and their families. who share AMC’s vision of an inclusive world.
