It all began with a small step to bring about a change, to impact lives of those who need attention and special care. AMC – Association for the Mentally Challenged has been a beacon of hope for hundreds of families with special children navigating the journey of intellectual and cognitive disabilities. For over four decades, AMC has dedicated itself to the care, education, and empowerment of individuals with Intellectual Development Disorder (IDD) — creating a nurturing space where they are seen, understood, and uplifted.

The main aim of project ENRICH is to empower the families who care for Individuals with Development Disabilities (IDD) by focusing on improving their quality of life, supporting the families by educating, training them with skills and information as and when required.

1. A graduate degree in psychology and related areas of study, business and marketing,
performing arts or fine art and crafts is required to apply to be a volunteer at AMC.

2. In order to make the most out of your volunteering experience at AMC, we require you to
spend a minimum of 3 weeks with us.

Management

Association for the Mentally Challenged was the idea of then Director of All India Institute of Mental Health (currently NIMHANS, Bangalore), the dynamic and dedicated Dr. D.L.N. Murthy Rao. The institution was started under his Presidency in 1960.
